A Cosy Nook for Two
The Story Behind Our Cabin Bed
When we first started dreaming up Coety Bach, one of the things we really wanted was to make the bed a proper romantic focal point. Not just a place to sleep, but a hideaway within a hideaway. A place to close the curtains, shut out the world, and nestle down in your own little cocoon. Cosy, romantic, and a far cry from the everyday.
We had a rough idea of what we wanted, but in true, quirky, cabin style, it all came together piece by piece. Each bit of timber was tested and turned and tried in a few different places before we settled on where it fit best. We changed our minds a few times along the way. Should it have a window or not? Curtains you can pull across, or leave it open to the room? How high should it sit and would it work in that corner or the other? It all unfolded as we went along and what we ended up with is something that feels like it grew into the cabin naturally.
We built the whole nookbed by hand, using reclaimed wood from our local timber yard. We stripped, sanded, oiled, and polished every board ourselves. The result is smooth, rich timber with real character and not a splinter to be found. The drawers underneath were handmade from scratch, perfect for unpacking your suitcase and settling in properly, and there’s even more storage tucked below for stashing away bags or pulling out the outdoor cushions for the stargazing bench. There’s handy storage space up top too, where we keep extra cabin supplies tucked neatly away and out of sight.
This romantic cabin bed is built for two, with a full-size king mattress and a memory foam topper for extra comfort. From the bed, you can see the fire flickering in the log burner, watch the sun setting through the window, or draw the thick curtains and let the soft fairy lights take over. There’s even an integrated step to help you climb in, making it feel even more like your own little snug retreat.
One of our favourite parts is the stained glass window that’s set within the frame. We’d had that window for years, just waiting for the right place. Now it lives here, framed in more reclaimed wood that we shaped, sanded, and finished ourselves. It adds a soft glow and a handcrafted touch that makes the nookbed feel even more special.
Some say it’s like a built-in four-poster bed. Others call it a cabin within a cabin. To us, it’s the warm heart of Coety Bach. Perfect for lazy mornings, cosy nights, and reconnecting with the one you love.
So if you’re looking for a romantic cabin retreat in Wales, cosy couples’ accommodation, or simply unique places to stay in Mid Wales, our nookbed is waiting for you. Handmade with care, built to slow things down, and ready to wrap you up in comfort.
