Questions to Ask Before Booking a Cabin Stay (And Our Honest Answers)
We’ve been running Coety Bach long enough to know that when you're booking a cabin, you’ve probably got a few questions. Maybe even a few worries, especially if it’s your first time heading somewhere a bit off the beaten path. So, we thought we’d answer the most common ones we get asked, all in one place. Hopefully this helps you feel a bit more relaxed about booking your stay with us.
What’s the minimum stay for a cabin break?
The minimum stay is two nights. People usually book two or three nights, but we often hear on checkout that guests wish they’d booked for longer. Two nights go so quickly, with just one full day to explore or relax, especially once you’ve settled in. So if you’re after a proper switch-off and some time to really enjoy your getaway we’d recommend staying three or four nights to get the most out of your stay.
Do you ever do one-night stays?
Not as a rule, but if you happen to spot a single night gap on our booking calendar, feel free to get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
Are you a dog friendly cabin?
Yes, absolutely. We welcome up to two dogs and we’re more than happy for them to enjoy the cabin with you. We know some dogs like to curl up on the sofa (ours certainly does), so all we ask is that you bring a couple of throws to help keep soft furnishings clean and allergy free.
Is there an enclosed garden for my dog?
Yes, the garden is enclosed, but we always ask guests to double check it’s suitable for their own dog before letting them off lead. We’ve done our best to make it secure, but all dogs are different.
Are dogs allowed on the bed?
Not generally, no, but if your dog usually sleeps on the bed at home, we’re happy for you to bring your own bedding with you. That way your pup doesn’t feel left out, and it helps keep the cabin allergy-friendly for future guests who might not be bringing dogs.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is any time after 4pm and check-out is before 10am. If you’d like a bit more time either side, we offer an optional early arrival or late departure for £30. You can add that to your booking by contacting us or checking out our optional extras.
Is there on site parking?
Yes, we’ve got a private parking space for one standard-sized car. It’s free, safe and about 80 metres from the cabin entrance.
What’s the road like? Is it a proper road?
Yes, it’s a proper tarmac road leading right up to the parking space. It’s a single-track lane with passing places along the way. It’s not a gravel track or anything rough like that, normal cars manage just fine.
How do I find you?
We send out detailed directions after booking, and we’ve also got them listed on our website. If you use What3Words, the location is firepower.helping.according.
Where’s the nearest pub or shop?
We’re about 15 minutes from Llandrindod Wells, where you’ll find pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, takeaways, and shops. There’s also a lovely local pub in Penybont, about a 10-minute drive away. All the details are in the guest book when you arrive and a link will also be sent to you upon booking with all the local information in.
Is there Wi-Fi or phone signal?
There’s no Wi-Fi at the cabin, by design. But depending on your network, you should get decent mobile signal. Vodafone tends to be the best up here, though other networks do work in places. Most guests find they can check in with the outside world if needed, but many choose not to.
Is there a proper bathroom?
Yes! No composting loos or outside dashes here. We’ve got a full indoor bathroom with a flush toilet, huge corner bath with an overhead shower, wash basin, heated towel rail, and hot running water. And if you’re feeling adventurous (or just fancy soaking under the stars), there’s an outdoor bath too.
Is there a fire pit or outdoor cooking facilities?
Yes, we’ve got a fire pit with a barbecue grill over the top. It’s a favourite with guests on warm evenings, perfect for sitting by the fire with something good on the grill, a glass of wine, and the sunset to set the scene.
Is there a proper kitchen?
Yes, Coety Bach has a fully functional kitchen with all everything you’ll need to cook up a full roast dinner, should you wish.
Are there any walks from the cabin door?
Yes, loads. You can head straight out from the cabin on foot and you’re immediately into the hills. We’ve listed our favourite walks in the guest book and there are plenty more saved in our Instagram highlights too.
Is the bed big enough for taller guests?
Yes, it’s a proper king-size bed and we’ve had plenty of taller guests stay without a problem. No reports of feet sticking out or needing to sleep diagonally. Plenty of space to stretch out and get cosy after a day exploring.
How far is the cabin from the car?
It’s about 80 metres from the parking spot to the cabin. It’s worth mentioning that it’s up a fairly steep slope, so unfortunately it’s not suitable for anyone with limited mobility.
Do you have any other holiday lets nearby?
No. The cabin is surrounded by open farmland, sometimes home to a couple of curious horses and sheep dotted around the surrounding fields. The views are spectacular in every direction. You’ll see the sunrise and sunset right from the porch, and the only company you’ll have is the birds or the odd curious deer. It’s peaceful, private, and tucked away from the rest of the world.
If there's anything we haven’t covered, feel free to ask. We’re always happy to help. Otherwise, we hope this gives you a clear idea of what to expect — and maybe even gets you dreaming about your next escape to Coety Bach.
