Firework free at Coety Bach
If you saw our November 5th bonfire night Instagram post, you’ll know exactly what Bonfire Night looks like at Coety Bach. No crowds, no loud bangs, just the soft crackle of the fire pit, the glow of the cabin lights and the quiet of the hills. It’s our kind of celebration, simple, peaceful and kind to wildlife and pets.
We can’t promise that no one in Mid Wales will ever light a firework, but we can say that in the eleven years we’ve lived here there haven’t been any near us. We’re tucked away at the very end of a quiet country lane, surrounded by farmland and open sky and it’s just not the sort of place where fireworks happen. There are no big displays, no through traffic and no reason for anyone to set them off up here, whether its on November 5th, new year or any other celebration.
That’s one of the reasons our guests tell us how peaceful their stay feels, especially those with dogs who dread this time of year.
A calm night for worried dogs (and their owners)
Our Springer Spaniel, Jasper, is a rescue and terrified of bangs, so we know how upsetting it can be for both pets and owners. When fireworks go off nearby, Jasper will often tremble, hide, pant or try to escape and it leaves him stressed for hours. Here, he doesn’t even flinch. He can lie by the fire pit or curl up inside the cabin without a sound to spook him.
For guests (and us), that peace of mind is priceless. You can sit outside together wrapped in a blanket, listening to the gentle crackle of the fire pit, or if the weather turns wet, settle in the warmth of the cabin. It’s a chance to turn what’s usually a worrying night into something lovely, calm, safe and cosy for both you and your faithful friend.
Kind to wildlife too
Fireworks don’t only frighten pets. They can disturb nesting birds, send roosting flocks flying into the night and scare local wildlife out of their habitats. The RSPCA has long warned about the impact of fireworks on animals, noting that even distant displays can cause distress. By keeping Coety Bach firework free, we help protect the birds and wildlife that make this part of Mid Wales so special.
We’re also advocates for silent fireworks and have been quietly hoping to see them become the norm. They offer the same beauty in the sky without the noise that frightens animals and we’d love to see more people choose that kinder option in future.
A peaceful, dog friendly escape
If you’re looking for firework free accommodation in Wales, Coety Bach offers the calm you’ve been searching for. It’s an adults only, dog friendly cabin surrounded by nature, with a private garden, wood fired hot tub and uninterrupted countryside views. Whether you’re watching the sunset with a glass of wine or stargazing by the fire pit, you can relax knowing your dog is happy and safe.
For anyone whose dog finds Bonfire Night distressing, it’s a perfect escape, a place where the only sounds are the wind in the trees and the gentle hiss of the fire pit.
